Girl responds to getting bullied

0

Caitlin Prater-Haacke is a high school student in Alberta, Canada, who was recently the victim of a bullying incident. Someone broke into her locker in late September and wrote a Facebook status using her iPad that encouraged her to die. It’s hard to imagine that those words were an easy pill to swallow, but Caitlin responded with nothing but grace and maturity.  Watch the video to see what she does in response.

What do you think?

celebrate quirks

Celebrate Quirks with other weirdos in your tribe

0

celebrate quirks “When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of “Me, too!” be sure to cherish them. Because those weirdos are your tribe.”

I LOVE this saying. It is so true. I find that when I am weird, child-like, silly, don’t have a care in the world and am enjoying where I am at in life…aka being my true authentic self, these “quirks” show up. Things like bursting out into song or dance or a thought or saying will come flying out of my mouth. It is in these moments that allow others to let their guard down and join you. Being authentic together and at that moment you really do feel a heart connection, a string that ties you to one another. Instant rapport and connection happens in that instance. This is an indication of someone else in your “tribe”. A common denominator, an open door to actually “see” each other like they talk about in the movie “Avatar”. (Great movie, if you haven’t seen it, rent it tonight!)

An example of what I am talking about. Music. I love music that has a great beat, catchy phrase, underlying message, etc. I have been known to be producing and running an event, getting things organized and set up, the AV guy is playing some “set up” music and all of the sudden…I will sing a line of the song. My client starts busting up laughing! “I thought I was the only one who does that!” She is a fellow “weirdo” who is a part of my tribe.

Music again, this time at a my boyfriend’s company picnic. A group of chemists and engineers and me…so not a chemist or engineer! Heck in my daily world I am so far from science and more on the other side of the spectrum looking at meditation, how thoughts become things, using essential oils and homeopathic methods; how am I going to relate to very science and math people. Remember, this is the first time meeting the majority of them. While my boyfriend is off in a Bocce tournament (which he did end up winning, yay honey!) I head over to a picnic table of his co-workers surrounding the Dessert table. As we discuss which dessert I had brought it then seemed like all of a sudden we got on the topic of songs, popular music videos and television shows like “GLEE”. Then we are singing lyrics of different songs. Mash-ups of our own. It is getting louder. Other people from the group are looking over at us, shaking their heads. I get a text from my boyfriend “You okay?” My reply “Yes! We are singing! :-)” His response back, “I know, we can hear you. LOL” I just found more of my “weirdo tribe” and we were having a good ‘ol time.

Your tribe is EVERYWHERE. Although if you never open up and be your authentic self, they will walk right on by. The ones that do walk on by when you are being authentic, that’s okay too. It is always my hope they find their own “weirdos”.

Happy Weirdo Seeking!

Much Love,

Shay

Vision so clear, fears become irrelevant

Make Your Vision So Clear That Your Fears Become Irrelevant

Vision so clear, fears become irrelevant

Make Your Vision So Clear That Your Fears Become Irrelevant

I recently attended an event by Brendon Burchard called “High Performance Academy”.

The above statement so rings true for me after that event. It was an opportunity for me to re-engage my life and business and get back in touch with my vision and dreams. When you have no vision and no goal, how do you know what you are aiming for? How do you take the next best step in turning your dreams into reality? How do you even remember what your dreams are if you don’t have a vision?

It is so easy to get lost in the everyday routine of life and lose sight of what drives you, what you want to accomplish and what things on your Live List you want to see and do before you kick the bucket. It is why I love attending events. They allow me to re-engage and help keep me moving forward. Events also allow me to connect with other like-minded individuals who are out there making a difference in the world. That alone is INSPIRING and depending on someone else’s vision and how big it is, that might just kick you in the booty to step up your game as well.

After all when the vision is clear, no fear will stop you from achieving it.

Action Step: grab a pen and paper and jot down your vision. Dream again. Make it so clear that you can see it and practically touch it, it is so real.
Then feel free to comment below. You never know, your vision may just be the catalyst for another to step up their game.

Many blessings,

Shay

Be a Good Listener

Be a Good Listener

Be a Good Listener “Conveying to others that you’re willing to listen because you value what they have to say is a way of demonstrating that you care. It’s a way of being inspiring, of listening like God…Who sets the example for allowing you to be what you choose to be. ”  – Inspirational cards

Listening is just as important speaking your truth. I remember growing up and hearing “There is your perspective, My perspective and the Truth.” By listening we get closer to that “truth” as you are aware of both perspectives and can then come to a “happy medium” for both parties.

This photo was taken of a group of waterfalls that we stumbled upon on a hike in Northern Ca. You never know what beauty you will find when you open your mind and listen the perspectives and suggestions of others…you too might stumble upon beauty like we did this day.

Happy Listening.

Shay

“Spend your life doing strange things with weird people.”

Let’s face it. There is no “normal”. Everyone is a bit weird every once and a while. Why not expand your horizons, try something new, go outside your comfort zone and design your life with experiences.

Let “I AM” Statements Help You Reach Your 2014 Goals

0

A great article to start the New Year off right! Please enjoy this guest article. I have personally met and spent time getting to Kody as well as read his amazing book “Promptings”. I highly recommend it especially if working with the power of the “I am” is new to you. Some people also call them affirmations and the StandUpAndLead project can also be seen as forms of “I Am” statements we send out to the world.

Wishing you an amazing New Year.
Hope you get everything you dream of and more in 2014.

Many Blessings,
Shay Wheat

Let “I AM” Statements Help You Reach Your 2014 Goals
image

Jan 2, 2014 By SendOutCards

While you can set goals at anytime, January is typically the best time to start planning for the things that you’d like to accomplish throughout the New Year. Everyone has different goals, aspirations and resolutions in mind, but writing them down will increase the likelihood that they come true.

And if you’re writing them, why not write them down as, “I AM” statements? In his book,Promptings, founder and CEO, Kody Bateman, talks about the importance of  “I AM” statements. “I AM” statements are great way for you to understand your “why” as you visualize your goals, dreams and aspirations. It helps brings them to life. Read more about the process of “I AM” statements and incorporate your New Year goals and resolutions into them!

The Process of the “I AM” – Excerpts from Promptings

“When you create an “I AM” statement, visualize it, and state your compelling “why,” your subconscious mind goes into action delivers exactly what you tell it. You have all heard the saying, “You better be careful what you wish for because you might get it.” It’s amazing how true those words are. When you write these statements, make sure you know what you are saying because that is exactly what you will get. Write your statements, visualize them as best as you can, state your “whys” using all the senses, and keep sending yourself this message over and over.” – Kody Bateman

Your subconscious mind is storing the limiting belief and your conscious mind is feeding it by your daily thoughts about lack of, can’t do, I’m a victim thinking.  It is also fed by simple negative words we use. For example, your subconscious mind may be storing an old limiting belief that says, “I will never be free of financial hardship.” Your conscious mind will feed that with thoughts like you never got that breaks you needed or it takes money to make money or it’s not meant to be. The key is to recognize this and create strong language in a new set of “I am” statements that will switch your mindset back to where it was meant to be.

Short and precise “I AM” statements tend to be the most profound.  For example, “I am financially independent and free” versus “I need more money.” The first statement implies financial abundance and the second implies lack.

“When I first wrote the above statement, it said, “I am financially independent and debt free.” I used that statement for about a year. I was sharing that statement in a seminar, and an attendee suggested that I take the word “debt” out since it was negative word. I changed it to “I am financially independent and free.” That one word made a huge impact on the effectiveness of the statement.” – Kody Bateman

Kody faced financial hardships and hurdles when he decided to create and launch SendOutCards. But despite naysayers, one thing always stood out to him — his promise to his brother that he would act on his promptings and help others do the same. That became his “why” and it was big enough to get pass all the “hows.” Find your compelling and “why” and let it help drive you.

Create a dream card (or board) to help yourself visualize your dream. The more senses you use in your “I AM” statement, the more emotion or feeling you generate. If you want a new boat, dream home, a mountain cabin, a strong portfolio, a successful in-home business, or charity to support, simply subscribe to the magazines that cover those things. There are magazines out there for almost anything.

Create your “I AM” statements today and get one step closer to accomplishing your goals! You’ll be surprised at how creating “I AM” will help you manifest your dreams and aspirations into reality. To read more about Promptings and “I AM” statements, get a copy of Promptings, available now in SendOutCards Gift Shop, and attend a Treat’em Right Seminar in your area!

Go out there and reach your 2014 goals in year of the Revolution!

Recent story was just brought to my attention.

A couple of 8th grade, young women, decided to make a difference in the lives of their fellow students at school.

Take a look at this video:

A Simple act of kindness gone viral.
The story was even picked up on a local news station.

What can you do to pay it forward?

There is power in a sticky note.

The Heart is the 1st point of reference

Heart vs Mind

0

The Heart is the 1st point of reference

“The Heart is the 1st point of reference -NOT THE MIND- Heart transmits to the brain, brain takes action. Remember this route.”

Are you aware of, or know people who pretty consistently say “I have to think about it”, or “I don’t know”. Do you know why they say those things? I know why…because they haven’t checked in with what their heart has to say about it.

The heart is an amazing mechanism not only for the physical body mechanics but also emotionally. Sadly most of us are in our heads so much we miss what we really want and desire. Thus the reason why “I don’t know” comes up so much.

Great, so what is really happening?

According to the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes, “Our brain is continuously processing signals… This input is then transmitted to the brain… In the brain, signals are received in categories. Thus the processing of sensory input begins with specific regions in the brain separately deciphering each message. Subsequently, multiple types of sensory input are integrated, thus allowing the mass of information to be interpreted into an appropriate (motor) response.”

In everyday language: Transmissions (like those from the Heart) go to the brain, then the brain takes action.
However, people are doing their best to rework this dynamic.

Why?
1. Not want to answer the question
2. Not want to hurt someone’s feelings with what they really feel and thus give a middle of the road, non-committed answer
and/or
3. Don’t want to or have forgotten how to check in with themselves and how they feel, (perhaps it is because they have been people pleasing for years and have lost that part of them along the way).

How to Remedy and check back in with the Heart to restart this correct pathway?
It’s all about getting out of your head and into your heart.

Right now put your hand on your heart. Do you feel it beat? Take a deep breath in for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, breathe out for 4 counts. How does your heart feel now? Did it feel tight, expanded, erratic, full, calm? Make a note of any thoughts, feelings, emotions that come up around this.

You can also get out of your head and back into your heart through meditation. There are many traditions and ways to meditate but it really doesn’t have to be complicated. Simply sitting in a quite area, either sitting on the floor with your legs crossed or sitting in a chair with feet flat on the floor both with a straight spine. Hands in your lap, or on your knees. Now breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, breathe out for 4 counts. Do this starting out for 5-10 minutes. If any thoughts come to your mind simply push them aside and focus again on the breath. Do this daily. You will get better at quieting the mind with meditation repetition and thus allowing a deeper connection to be made with the heart and what you feel vs what you think.

Now next time you have a question come up and you want to say “I don’t know” or “I have to think about it” take a moment to do your 4 count breathing, check in with the heart and answer from that space. What you feel vs what you think.

Happy Breathing & Heart Connecting!

You Will never find what you have...until you "let go" of what you had.

Never Find it until you let it go

0

You Will never find what you have...until you "let go" of what you had. “You will never find what you have…until you “Let Go” of what you had.”

Stuck in the Past? Unable to let go of what was in order to participate in the here and now? It is called Being in the Moment. The past is history and tomorrow is a mystery, all we have is the moment and that is why they call it Present.

That is all we ever really have, the present moment. The past gives us some background knowledge, it gives us stepping-stones, it gives us possible clues in order to navigate the present and future. However, the past does not dictate how we choose to move forward in the present moment. The past is what we remember, our perception of events and outcomes.

Key word is Perception.

How we “saw” things transpire. Now that perception was based on knowledge you had at that point in time in your life. The thing is, you are constantly learning and growing (whether you like it or not :-) Meaning that you could be in the same situation once again and your 1st thought will be to pull upon past experiences to give you background on how to move forward. However what if you were to look at this experience again with new eyes? How might things change? How will letting go of the past, what you had, serve you now in the present moment? What new tools and experiences have you learned for possible new outcomes?

Funny thing about the past, it can never be changed. The only thing that can change is your perspective and how you choose to move forward. Will you hold onto the past and recreate the same experiences over and over expecting different results? Will you acknowledge the past, recognize it for the lesson it taught you and choose different, choose another route moving forward? Will you completely abandon it and choose to look at each new experience with fresh eyes and every time the past creeps back up say “Thank you but I choose not to view things from a past perspective”? There is no right or wrong in these questions and your choice in choosing per experience. My intention is to bring it to your awareness and remind you that you are in choice.

Many times we get stuck and are unable to move forward because we choose to believe things will always stay the same because of our past experiences. We choose not to Let Go and we will continue to have opportunities arise to learn the same lesson over and over until we get it.  If this is you, may I suggest stepping back, taking a breath and asking for a new option, a new possibility to present itself. Heck if you don’t like that outcome you can always go back to what you were doing (however I have a feeling you weren’t too happy with that outcome anyway. Right?).

Alternatively, when we do get an opportunity to let go it allows us to free up space for something new or perhaps something that has always been there but we were unable to see because we were focused elsewhere. You have the tools, knowledge, strength and skill within you to find the answers and things you seek. Unfortunately, many of us have also learned and adopted other thoughts that cause doubt, fear and lack to creep into our mindset and do their best to keep us there.

My hope is that today will assist you in taking a moment to step back and look at things in your world from a different perspective, a different view-point, and at the very least taking a moment to breathe before doing what you have always done in the past.

Otherwise, “You will never find what you have…until you “Let Go” of what you had.”

Many Blessings & Prosperous Regards,

Shay
