Axtell Park 8th graders’ act of kindness warms hearts

0

Recent story was just brought to my attention.

A couple of 8th grade, young women, decided to make a difference in the lives of their fellow students at school.

Take a look at this video:

A Simple act of kindness gone viral.
The story was even picked up on a local news station.

What can you do to pay it forward?

There is power in a sticky note.

Help me share their story.

Many Blessings,

Shay Wheat

You Will never find what you have...until you "let go" of what you had.

Never Find it until you let it go

0

You Will never find what you have...until you "let go" of what you had. “You will never find what you have…until you “Let Go” of what you had.”

Stuck in the Past? Unable to let go of what was in order to participate in the here and now? It is called Being in the Moment. The past is history and tomorrow is a mystery, all we have is the moment and that is why they call it Present.

That is all we ever really have, the present moment. The past gives us some background knowledge, it gives us stepping-stones, it gives us possible clues in order to navigate the present and future. However, the past does not dictate how we choose to move forward in the present moment. The past is what we remember, our perception of events and outcomes.

Key word is Perception.

How we “saw” things transpire. Now that perception was based on knowledge you had at that point in time in your life. The thing is, you are constantly learning and growing (whether you like it or not :-) Meaning that you could be in the same situation once again and your 1st thought will be to pull upon past experiences to give you background on how to move forward. However what if you were to look at this experience again with new eyes? How might things change? How will letting go of the past, what you had, serve you now in the present moment? What new tools and experiences have you learned for possible new outcomes?

Funny thing about the past, it can never be changed. The only thing that can change is your perspective and how you choose to move forward. Will you hold onto the past and recreate the same experiences over and over expecting different results? Will you acknowledge the past, recognize it for the lesson it taught you and choose different, choose another route moving forward? Will you completely abandon it and choose to look at each new experience with fresh eyes and every time the past creeps back up say “Thank you but I choose not to view things from a past perspective”? There is no right or wrong in these questions and your choice in choosing per experience. My intention is to bring it to your awareness and remind you that you are in choice.

Many times we get stuck and are unable to move forward because we choose to believe things will always stay the same because of our past experiences. We choose not to Let Go and we will continue to have opportunities arise to learn the same lesson over and over until we get it.  If this is you, may I suggest stepping back, taking a breath and asking for a new option, a new possibility to present itself. Heck if you don’t like that outcome you can always go back to what you were doing (however I have a feeling you weren’t too happy with that outcome anyway. Right?).

Alternatively, when we do get an opportunity to let go it allows us to free up space for something new or perhaps something that has always been there but we were unable to see because we were focused elsewhere. You have the tools, knowledge, strength and skill within you to find the answers and things you seek. Unfortunately, many of us have also learned and adopted other thoughts that cause doubt, fear and lack to creep into our mindset and do their best to keep us there.

My hope is that today will assist you in taking a moment to step back and look at things in your world from a different perspective, a different view-point, and at the very least taking a moment to breathe before doing what you have always done in the past.

Otherwise, “You will never find what you have…until you “Let Go” of what you had.”

Many Blessings & Prosperous Regards,

Shay

Sticky Note of the Day: “Dreams don’t come true because a person does something well once and a while…Dreams come true when someone performs with excellence day after day.” -John Maxwell

So really John, what you are saying is doing something consistently, everyday, no matter how small, is better than something big every now and then. Guess the way I look at it is “eat an apple a day vs 30 apples in one day!” (Whew that would be a TON of apples if you did it all in one day). Okay I get it.

Mr. Maxwell also speaks about how he makes sure he does 5 things, just 5 everyday. Rain or shine, holidays, birthdays, weekends, everyday, 5 things to assist him in his goals, dreams, aspirations and development of himself and his leadership. Would you like to know what he does?

John Maxwell’s Rule of 5:

1. Reads

2. Files his ideas

3. Asks Questions

4. Thinks

5. Writes

That’s it. They aren’t huge. They aren’t hard but over time it adds up…BIG TIME! He has been doing this for years and it has become a habit. He is someone who performs with excellence day after day in these 5 key areas. After knowing this it makes sense how to date he has written more than 60 books and has been featured multiple times in SUCCESS Magazine, not to mention all of his speaking engagements and training new trainers.

How does this fit into your world? What 5 things or even 1, 2, 3 things would you commit to do, everyday if it meant you could turn your dreams into reality? Are your dreams worth it? It reminds me of the old saying “It you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” These 5 things for John Maxwell are part of his plan to achieve what he desires in this lifetime.

Can’t think of anything at the moment? Use John’s 5 things. It works, just tailor it to you in terms of what to read, filing ideas/quotes/thoughts/messages/etc. Make it your own, do it consistently and in the direction of your dreams then watch them become reality.

Easy to do, easy not to do. How bad do you want it?

Dream Big my friends,

Shay

Make things happen note

Make Things Happen!

0

Make things happen note There comes a time when you have the gut, intuition feeling of

“It’s time to Make Things Happen!”

No more sliding through life, no more slouching around, no more “waiting”.

It’s Go Time!

That time is NOW!

It reminds me of the saying “If your ship doesn’t come out to you, swim out to it.”

Yep, that is where we are now. I feel it. Do you?

I have been interacting with more and more people lately who are also feeling this driving force to take action, to change what they have been doing, to strive after their passions and just “KNOW” that all will fall into place. Granted it is scary, it is outside our comfort zones but it “feels” right.

Last year was a Year of Experiences for me, this year is a Year of Prosperous Opportunity. It is amazing how the simple act of setting an intention, sharing it with those around you, those of influence and affluence, will end up in an amazing snowball effect that you could not have possibly imagined. However it will never happen if you don’t start to take some action. MAKE THINGS HAPPEN! It’s time. There is no better time than right now to get that snowball rolling. Just pick up some snow, be at the top of a hill, create a ball, then get it started on its path. Now that you can visualize that in your minds eye, how does that relate to the “real world” right?

snowballSnowball-That’s your idea, your intention, your thoughts and dreams, your passion. Resting there in your hands. An inanimate object with no force acting upon it currently. Just sitting there for you to admire and look upon.

Hill-The launch pad, the starting place. It’s where you stand, right here, right now.

Snow ballStart the rolling process- Taking your idea, your passion, your intention and putting it into play in the world. Allow it to interact with others. Share it with those around you, share your passion, share your vision, explain it so they see what you see so they can share it with those around them & explain it as you have done.

That is Making Things Happen.

I’m not saying you must roll your snowball down the hill today but I am urging you to pick up some snow, hold it in your hand, grab some more snow and start to build your snowball.

I am excited to hear about where you are in the process of Making Things Happen.

Enjoy the Ride!

Shay

H.A.R.T. Balloon Release does not tolerate bullying!

0

Do you know what is happening in your local community?

A great friend of mine introduced me to an event that was happening at the local State College, Sacramento State, and asked if I would like to attend.

Sure, what are we supporting?

IMAG0514

This is what she sent me…

H.A.R.T. Balloon Release

As human beings, we subconsciously keep a record of wrongs that has been done to us in the past. The act of holding a grudge is a habit by human nature; unaware of the negative effect it can have in life.

The H.A.R.T Balloon Release event is purposed for the public to take a step toward becoming a community that will not tolerate bullying. Prior to the main event of releasing the H.A.R.T. balloons, the public is welcome to stop by the Have H.A.R.T. booth to write something he or she desires to let go of. Whether it is a specific name, a personal reflection, or a negative memory, the idea is to identify an unhealthy resentment and have a physical written form of it..

Those who participate will be asked to return to the booth at 3pm, tie their piece of paper to a balloon, and release it along with all the other attendees. Releasing the balloon symbolizes being free of the written issue and moving on in life without any burdens.

SOLD! I am sooo In!

shay and alexis balloon release

Not only am I about supporting an awesome group of young, purpose driven individuals who rally together for the good of human kind but to have an opportunity for me to also release things that burden me is right up my alley.

So off we went to the Sac State campus, ready to write down our burdens, connect with like-minded individuals and bring awareness to those around us. There was probably 50+ balloons and over 100 people in attendance on the quad that afternoon.

Messages written, tied onto the balloons and ready for lift off!

IMAG0521

It was an amazing feeling to physically write down (getting it out of your head, onto paper) a fear, set back, something that is holding you back and/or whatever it is you are wanting to release, tie it to a balloon,  LET IT GO, and watch it float away. The feeling I had afterwards was incredibly a sense of calm, ease and by the time we got back in our car to head home I was full of life and energy…bouncing in the car to the music and being silly. It was a symbolic gesture that had an emotional and physical release for me and one “tool” I had forgotten was so powerful.

My hope for sharing this with you today is to open your eyes to other “tools” of assisting you to release things in your world that are no longer serving you. Whether it be a balloon release with the community just as we did (feel free to create your own group too!), writing it down on paper and burning it (remember safety first), or connecting with a coach/councilor/mentor/friend there are many options. Also there are many resources (we heard about this from www.Sacramento365.com ) locally that can inform you of events and ways to be involved in your community.

Wishing you all the best on this beautiful day and never stop working on you!

From 16 yr old Ashley Monroe: My Message to Everyone at My School: ‘You’re Beautiful’

1

I recently saw this AMAZING post of a young woman who is making a difference in her school by simply using Sticky Notes and a wonderfully positive message…see orginal post here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ashley-monroe/my-message-to-everyone-at_b_2563941.html

From Ashley Monroe.
16-year-old from Massachusetts

This is a picture of something I did at my school last year. I wrote out 1,986 sticky notes. Each said, “You’re beautiful,” and I stuck one to every locker in my entire school.
r-YOUREBEAUTIFUL-large570

It was almost unbearable to listen people put themselves down every day. They would say things like, “I’m ugly” or “No one likes me.” To me, that wasn’t the truth. For at least one day, I wanted everyone to know that someone thought they were beautiful.

It took me over 6 hours to write all of the notes, and an hour to stick them with the help of one other friend. It wasn’t my original plan to tell people that I had done it, but word got out after I had been called to the Dean’s office. They found me through the school’s video surveillance system.

After being sat down in the office and explaining everything that had happened, there was talk of a possible 3-day suspension from school. When I went back to my classroom, my teacher asked me what they said, and I told her. This is how the rest of the students found out. Throughout the entire day word of the possible suspension circulated, and a group of students came together and formed a petition. They passed the petition around school.

In the end, it had over 600 signatures, from both students AND faculty.

It amazed me that people would do that for me. For one day, I truly felt beautiful. And for one day, I managed to make every other kid in my school feel beautiful, as well.

A few days later, after the incident was not as new, a complete stranger approached me. What she said to me was shocking.

“That day, I was planning on killing myself. I had given up completely on society, but because of you I didn’t. You gave me hope. Thank you.”

What’s more amazing than that is the fact that today she has become one of my best friends.

Thank you Ashley for being a leader in your school and for changing the lives of many.
You are the epitome of a “Stand Up And Lead” Leader.
Much Love,
Shay

journey is the reward - taoist proverb

The Journey Is the Reward

0

Have you noticed, as you start to do more personal development work, that friends and relationships may no longer work the way they used to. The time you had together fit then but no longer seems to fit now. That’s okay. People come into our lives for days, weeks, months, perhaps a season or for a lifetime. The goal is to learn the lesson and accept the blessings for the time you spend together.  You may also notice that the universe will test you. Test you to see if what you say you no longer want and what you want are in alignment with which direction you take when given the choice and opportunity to choose what you did in the past or choose the new path and new direction you say you want to go in.

It is also very interesting to watch this transpire as a coach because I get to see this happen in my clients world and I too get an opportunity choose the direction I will head (you can’t teach that what you don’t know and don’t experience, right!?). I too get to choose which relationships I will keep, who will fall away and who may re-enter my world down the line. Yes I am a coach that does talk the talk and walk the walk. I am on a journey just as you are and recently a very new friend came into my world, however he is one of those connections where you feel like you have known each other FOREVER! I feel this picture he sent sums it all up quite nicely “The Journey is the Reward”.

Enjoy your Journey my friends.

In Gratitude,

Shay Wheat

  Well Said Mr. Jobs.
I find it interesting for me personally that every time I tend to stray away from my purpose and don’t follow my Intuition things arise that I really don’t want, but when I listen to my heart and my intuition everything aligns and opportunities present themselves that normally would not occur. It takes courage, but I believe you can make it happen for yourself as well. :-)

This reminds me of a combination of two great men I have had the honor of knowing in my world. Both own their own business and do just as the note suggests. A wonderful lesson for us all to take with us as we go throughout our days.
